It was last year, I was introduced to the Global movement of #IAmRemarkable. Back then I attended a workshop myself, learning about (un-)conscious bias we still fight to date, to openly and produly talk about our achievements. It was an eye-opening session for me, being someone who tends a lot to acknowledge a team effort, rather than “bragging” about myself. But one of the key phrases of the movement as well as for myself has been: If it is based on facts, it is not bragging!
Doing self-promotion does not come naturally for most of us. Nontheless it is important for our self-reflection process, as well as making sure our accomplishments are seen & heard. This becomes very handy in our work environment, where we, I would say, almost have to self-promote, may it be in your yearly performance review or supporting your personal career growth.
Eventually, you will see, that over time talking about your achievements will get easier. It is a muscle we need to practice regularly.
Remember: Everyone one of us is remarkable!
PS: In 2024, I was certified as an official Workshop facilitator. So, stay tuned on my homepage for my next session.
